C.J. Wilson allowed only 3 hits resulting in a big goose egg on the scoreboard
for Egham and Joey Votto hit 2 doubles and had 4 RBI at Englefield Green
where the Dublin Pubcrawlers beat the reeling Egham Raiders 6 to
0.

Wilson(3-4) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Egham batters.  He didn't allow much, just 3 hits and 5 walks in 9 innings.
Wilson struckout 11 Egham batters reducing his ERA from 4.78 to 4.09.  Dublin
finished with 13 hits in the victory.  

Jake Westbrook(2-4) absorbed the loss.  He allowed 2 runs and 9 hits in 7 and
1/3 innings.  Wilson was pleased with his performance.  He noted, 'I had good
command of all my pitches.  Just as important, my location was right on.'

Emilio Bonifacio had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at the ballpark as the Tombstone
Huckleberries beat the North Dallas Fire Ants 5 to 1.

North Dallas was unable to climb back into it after Tombstone went ahead for
good in the top of the 3rd inning scoring a single run utilizing 2 base hits.
Tombstone banged out 8 hits on the night.  

The victory was credited to R.A. Dickey(3-4) who went 7 innings, allowing 1
run. Michael Pineda(4-2) was hit with the loss.  He gave up 2 runs and 5 hits
in 5 and 1/3 innings.

Shane Victorino smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at the ballpark where the
Dyersville Jurassics beat the Caracas Leones by the score of 10 to 9.

It was a good day for Dyersville thanks to Victorino.  He popped a two-run
clout over the fence in the 1st inning, lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the
7th inning and banged out a single in the 8th inning.  Dyersville kept the
pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.

David Hernandez(2-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings
and allowing 1 run. Jason Motte was credited with his 11th save.  Koji
Uehara(0-3) was the loser in relief.  He allowed 3 homeruns in 2 and 2/3
innings of work.  

This win by Dyersville continues their recent hot streak.  In their last ten
games, they have a record of 8-2.  For the season, they are a division
leading 25-17.  With the loss, Caracas has a record of 4-6 lately, 17-25,
worst in the division overall.

At the ballpark, the Yuma fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel.  Justin
Verlander(3-2) finally bested his Columbus opposite, Ricky Romero(3-5), by
the score of 3 to 1.

Yuma took the lead off Romero in the first inning when they tallied 2 runs on
3 hits.  That early scoring was all that Verlander needed.  Yuma had a total
of 7 hits for the game.  

Verlander got help from Drew Storen who was credited with his 11th save.
Romero was tagged with the loss.  He allowed 7 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.

Wilson Ramos blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Chicago Colts defeated the
Vernon Hillbillies by the score of 6 to 2 at West Side Park.

Chicago came up with 5 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning with the help of 6
hits.  The key offensive moment was provided by Ramos who thrilled the crowd
when he cracked a two-run shot.  Chicago finished with 11 hits while Vernon
ended up with 7.  

The winning pitcher was Tim Hudson(6-3) who allowed 2 runs in 8 innings. James
Shields(5-4) suffered the loss.  He surrendered 2 runs and 5 hits in 6
innings.

19,169 fans watched an exciting game at Wells Fargo Ballpark.  The DeKalb
Zeitgeist offense put up 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 5th inning and
topped the Clarkietown Marauders by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.

DeKalb did all of it's offensive work in the 5th inning scoring 4 runners on 3
hits.  The crucial at-bat was provided by John Jaso who made the crowd happy
when he doubled scoring two baserunners.  Clarkietown threatened in the 9th
but DeKalb was able to put down the rally.  

The win went to Mike Pelfrey(3-4) who allowed 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
Mark Melancon recorded the save, his 7th.  The loss was charged to Brandon
Morrow(4-2).  

'We won because we did the little things right.' Steve Seydell said after the
game.  'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get
in close games we don't make mistakes.'

Jered Weaver racked up an impressive total of 12 strikeouts and Drew Stubbs
hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Detroit Iron Gloves defeated the Burbank
Tigers 4 to 3 at Edsel Stadium.

Weaver(8-2) gave a fine effort for Detroit. He went 6 innings allowing 4 hits
and 2 walks.  Burbank made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to
push the needed runs across.  

Francisco Rodriguez recorded his 8th save. Jon Lester(4-4) took the loss.  He
pitched 6 innings giving up 6 hits and 6 walks. Everyone seemed to enjoy the
performance of Weaver - except Burbank.  Wes Davies lamented, 'He just was
'on' tonight.  He was keeping our guys off balance all game.  A fine game by
a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans -
unfortunately we were the visitors!'

Right fielder Cody Ross left the yard and had 3 RBI as the SSB Tar Heels beat
the Tampico Stogies by a score of 6 to 4.

Tampico was unable to recover after SSB went ahead in the top of the 7th
inning when they scored 2 runs on 0 hits.  Tampico had a chance to come back
in the 9th but they came up short.  

Jeremy Guthrie(7-2) allowed 4 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory.
Craig Kimbrel earned the save, his 12th.  Brandon McCarthy(1-6) ended up with
the loss.  

SSB now has a record of 20-22.  With the loss, the Tampico ballclub's record
is 20-22.

Josh Johnson shutout Glen Oaks while allowing the California bullpen a day-off
and third baseman Ryan Zimmerman had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the California
Luv defeated the Glen Oaks Bombers 9 to 0 at Lateralus
Parabola.

Johnson(1-4) had a strong outing.  He allowed only 6 hits and 3 walks in 9
innings dropping his ERA from 4.70 to 3.63.  California managed 18 hits in
their victory.  

David Price(3-3) was hit with the loss.  He was hit hard and gave up 13 hits
and 6 walks in 7 innings.

The Nimrod Numnuts edged the Streator Reds at Stigman's Mound by the score of
4 to 3.

Roy Oswalt(2-3) delivered a fine performance for Nimrod.  He was reached for 9
hits and 1 walk in 8 and 1/3 innings lowering his ERA from 4.55 to 4.28.
Streator had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.  

Eduardo Sanchez gained credit for his 5th save.  Trevor Cahill(2-4) took the
loss.  He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 hits and 4 walks.
