Paul Goldschmidt cracked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Detroit Iron Gloves
really laid it on the Hoffman Estates Penguins 20 to 10.
Goldschmidt was a source of great heartache for the Hoffman Estates faithful
all evening. He just kept pounding out hits! He clubbed a two-run home run
in the 3rd inning, slapped a one-base hit in the 5th inning and clubbed a
three-run home run in the 8th inning. Detroit bats were very productive in
the 4th inning which saw them score 4 runs on 4 hits and the 8th inning which
saw them plate 8 runs on 8 hits. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring
in 6 different innings was still not enough for Hoffman Estates to come away
with the victory.
Christian Bergman(2-0) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the win.
Michael Wacha(2-1) was given the loss. He served up 4 homeruns in his 3 and
2/3 innings.
