Right fielder Nomar Mazara had 4 hits and 6 RBI at Jurassic Park where the
Tampico Stogies beat the Dyersville Jurassics 13 to 8.
Mazara had a big evening at the plate. He doubled scoring a run in the 3rd
inning, doubled which was good for two runs in the 4th inning, doubled in the
6th inning and laced a base-knock bringing home two baserunners in the 9th
inning. Dyersville was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5
separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that
pitching is also needed to win ballgames.
Steven Matz(8-10) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 8 runs for the victory. Matz
got relief help from Nick Wittgren who gained credit for his 2nd save. The
loss was charged to Aaron Nola(2-8). He was touched for 9 hits and 4 walks
in 2 and 1/3 innings.
Mazara said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate
tonight. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple
pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'
