Ildemaro Vargas had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the Woodfield Roadkyll beat the
Columbus Crowd by a score of 8 to 7.
Woodfield came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning scoring 5 runners
on 4 hits. The big moment was provided by Miguel Rojas who disappointed the
partisan crowd when he banged out a single plating two runs. Columbus had a
chance in the 9th but they came up short.
The win went to Austin Voth(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 4 innings. Julio Urias
earned the save, his 4th. Ryne Stanek(4-2) was the loser in relief. He
allowed 2 runs and 1 hit without retiring a batter.
Mike Gahalla was beaming after the game, 'Not only were we making good
contact, but a lot of balls we hit seemed to have 'eyes'! I just love winning
these tight ones! It was just our evening - no doubt about it!'
