topped the Hollywood Marines by the slimmest of margins, 7 to 6.
The score was knotted at 6 after nine innings. Finally, Chicago prevailed in
the 11th inning. After two were out Victor Caratini lined a single giving
Chicago the victory as 8,053 happy fans celebrated wildly. Hollywood had 15
hits in the game while Chicago had 9, but Chicago had the more timely hits.
The win was credited to Mark Melancon(2-3) who went 2 and 1/3 innings allowing
no runs. The losing pitcher was Chris Stratton(0-1) in relief.
