Andrew Vaughn went deep as the Vernon Hillbillies defeated the Illinois
Patriots 3 to 2 at Long Grove CG.
The game was decided in the bottom of the 8th inning. After an out was
recorded, Vaughn smashed a solo-shot out of the park. Illinois had a chance
to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Walker Buehler(1-0) went 2 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Grant
Taylor was credited with his 2nd save. Cole Sands(1-2) was hit with the loss
in relief. He allowed 2 hits and 1 walk in 1 and 2/3 innings.
